Davis is getting closer and closer to returning from a herniated disk and a person familiar with the situation said the guard will take a big leap in his rehab this week by starting full running drills and some contact basketball drills. The story also goes on to say that Davis could be cleared for practice by next weekend, but he's going to take it slow and keep from being too optimistic.
Obviously, everyone is excited for Davis to get back, but he's right in refraining from being too optimistic. We all know this season has a hectic schedule, so to throw a 32-year old point guard with a bad back onto the floor, well... the results may not be instant. Add in the time he'll need to develop on the court, and we may still be looking at a four or five week period before we see this team getting it together with Davis.
There's also a ton of pressure on him to get this team into shape. People have been pointing to the lack of a point guard as the reason for the Knicks' poor play, and are expecting Davis to be the solution.
Godspeed, Baron. We need ya.
