Amare won't return until Monday's practice. Missing next three.Well that kind of stinks. Obviously, Amar'e deserves to take as much time as he needs after an awful loss. It just stinks that he'll be missing so much time. No doubt the Knicks will miss him with Carmelo Anthony and Josh Harrellson both injured. Likewise, while two of the games he'll miss - Toronto and Washington - are fairly winnable, the Knicks have about a 1.3% chance of winning their game against the Lakers on Friday.
On the bright side, this will give other players a chance to step up. Tyson Chandler and Jared Jeffries will get the bulk of the minutes at power forward and center, but this leads me to believe Steve Novak and Jerome Jordan will also get fairly significant playing time. In terms of scoring, it will fall on guys like Landry Fields, Bill Walker, Iman Shumpert, and hopefully Jeremy Lin to pick up the slack.
It will be a great test to this team's fortitude to go a week without its top guns, however it should be interesting/fun/possibly horrifying to see how it goes. And of course, condolences to the Stoudemire family.
