Iman Shumpert to Start; Tyson Chandler and Jared Jeffries Out

Oh boy. This game just got a lot more gruesome by the sounds of it, and not in the Knicks favor. Courtesy of Howard Beck:
Tyson Chandler out tonight with strained left hamstring. Day to day... Jeffries out tonighjt and Friday w/ sore rt knee.
Josh Harrellson will start in Chandler's place according to Frank Isola. Also, you may notice in that tweet that Iman Shumpert will indeed start for Landry Fields. So, for those of you confused, the Knicks' starting lineup will be: Jeremy Lin, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, and Josh Harrellson. That's a lineup that we haven't seen before!

That lineup's defense will suffer without Chandler, and the bench will certainly suffer without Jared Jeffries, but there are a few things to look at:
  • Amar'e Stoudemire will get some minutes as the center tonight, where he may have more room to operate, and may be quicker than whoever is guarding him. We saw him have offensive success in this situation last season.
  • Landry Fields might thrive off the bench with the free-flowing, passing ways of Baron Davis and the floor-spreading ways of Steve Novak.
  • The rotation will be shorter and tighter tonight, which may give the players more opportunities to get adjusted and in-rhytm.
We've obviously seen the Knicks short-handed and counted out before, but pull out miracles. We'll see how they handle it tonight.
